Who knows you better than you?

The NeuroDevelopmental Profile turns what you already notice about yourself into something specific enough to treat.

You are the foremost expert on your own daily experience. Clinical metrics give us data. Your personal insight gives us the context, and the two together are what make an assessment worth anything.

Our Cognitive Developmental Intake Survey evaluates how brain processing is working across seven core neurological systems. By gathering your insight, or that of a primary caregiver, we map how those specialised regions are actually operating in daily life. Once the specific areas are identified, we implement remediation targeted at emotional, psychological and cognitive growth.

Your insights. Your data. Your growth.

Decoding the Magnificent 7

Standardized clinical testing provides data, but it does not always pinpoint the subtle, daily, deeply significant symptoms that shape a life. Because the brain functions as an interconnected network, a real understanding of neurodevelopment means looking at how a person processes the world in real time.

The seven systems

Four cognitive systems and three physiological ones. Copyright Dr. Lisé DeLong, 2013.

Prefrontal cortexCognitive

Executive function, critical reasoning, impulse control, and the designated driver mechanics that decide what you do next.

  • Decision speed
  • Flexible and focused attention
  • Pragmatics of language
  • Problem solving and critical thinking
  • Reasoning and deduction
  • Syntax of language
  • Timing and rhythm

Temporal lobesCognitive

Dominant and non dominant. Language differences, auditory networks, memory retrieval, and the social and emotional communication centres.

  • Auditory association and closure
  • Auditory discrimination
  • Auditory prosody and phonology
  • Auditory reception and segmenting
  • Auditory sequential memory

Parietal lobesCognitive

Spatial tracking, left and right orientation, and the integration of sensory data.

  • Divided and diverted attention
  • Left and right orientation
  • Morphology and semantics of language
  • Visual sequential memory
  • Visual spatial attention and memory
  • Working memory

Occipital lobeCognitive

The visual engines that turn raw light and shape into meaningful processing.

  • Figure ground
  • Visual discrimination
  • Visual motor integration
  • Visual processing speed
  • Visual tracking

Basal gangliaPhysiological

The neurological brake system, fine motor execution, and anxiety thresholds.

  • Anxiety level control
  • Control of the body's idle speed
  • Integration of feeling and movement
  • Mediation of pleasure

Cingulate systemPhysiological

The brain's executive gear shifter, and where rigid thought loops get remediated.

  • Cognitive flexibility
  • Resilience and adaptability
  • Perseveration

Deep limbic systemPhysiological

The emotional core, survival instincts, and circadian sleep and wake cycles.

  • Depression
  • Energy levels
  • Sleep restoration

Does any of this sound familiar?

Your lived experience is the missing piece. These are the kinds of question the intake survey asks.

  • Slow reaction time
  • Ideas stuck in your head
  • Responses that land as socially inappropriate
  • Strategic planning that falls apart
  • Difficulty with logic and reason
  • Trouble with the rules of language
  • Difficulties with timing

Questions people ask

Who is the Profile for?

Anyone from age seven through seniors. It can be completed by the individual or by a primary caregiver on their behalf.

What is the Magnificent 7?

Seven core neurological systems: the prefrontal cortex, temporal lobes, parietal lobes, occipital lobe, basal ganglia, cingulate system and deep limbic system. The Profile evaluates how each is operating in daily life rather than producing a single score.

Why not just use standardized testing?

Standardized testing provides data but does not always pinpoint the subtle daily symptoms that actually affect your life. The brain works as an interconnected network, so understanding it means looking at how a person processes the world in real time.

What does it produce?

An Individualized Developmental Profile, which is what targeted remediation activities are then built from.
